Deerwood Kiwanis ClubMeeting of 3 February 2010 At a meeting today of a majority of club members, a motion was made to fund a $500 scholarship for a Mandarin High School senior’s college of choice first year expenses with criteria to be specified by this club and the selection of several finalists to made by the school using the Deerwood Kiwanis Club’s criteria. The student must be a Key Club member. The motion passed unanimously. Criteria are yet to be firmly established. As a side item Bud Sutton proposed that we also consider the new Atlantic Coast High School for scholarships. Bud is going to work with the school administration to see if we can start and sponsor a Key Club there also. Incidentally there is $990 in the charity account after spending $390 on the Pine Castle Christmas luncheon. So we need some fund raising to replenish our charity account. Pete Gentry |
